Body Relaxation
At Physio Rehab, our physiotherapists help patients to relax their body muscles through physio exercises and breathing.
Body relaxation techniques through physiotherapy often focus on muscle relaxation and breathing.
When we feel pain, worry or fear, these feelings could be expressed in muscular tension. There are three key areas in our body that are most affected by these emotional forces are the pelvic floor, the diaphragm and the jaw areas. Pelvic floor muscles are locate between the tailbone (coccyx) and the pubic bone within the pelvis. The diaphragm, located below the lungs, is the major muscle of respiration. The lower jaw (mandible) supports the bottom row of teeth and gives shape to the lower face and chin. This is the bone that moves as the mouth opens and closes. The upper jaw (maxilla) holds the upper teeth, shapes the middle of the face and supports the nose.
To become less tense and stiff, it is important o loosen up. Our first tip is to reduce that stiff, hunched posture. We can exhale slowly, pull our shoulders away from our ears, sit back and take a few slow, deep breaths in and out. Close our eyes for a moment and let our body loosen.
In our Physio Rehab Clinic environment setting, we provide a cool and quiet place where there is minimal disturbance of traffic or human noises.
